Below you will find a detailed overview of my study progress of my 4 year bachelor in Industrial Product Design which consist of Graduation, Internship, Minor, Projects & Competences.

Internship

vos interior studio

In my 3rd year I successfully completed my 6 month Internship at Vos Interior Studio in Groningen.

This Internship let me follow my passion of furniture and interior design on a high level. I was able to apply my existing experience and gathered additional skills which further improved me as a professional designer. 

Minor

Creative Storytelling

In my 3rd year I successfully completed my minor in Creative Storytelling at Utrecht UAS.

I chose this minor to improve my storytelling skills in several aspects which are helpful for me as a designer and artist.

Competences

During the first 2 years of my study I got taught a variety of different subjects, skills and competences. Based on my interests and my abilities I concentrated on 3 main competences; Idea & Concept Generation, Prototyping and Design Skills. Below you will find an elaboration of my competences and once clicked on an image you will be directed to the page of the competence where you will find images as well as an evaluation and refection on these. 

Idea & Concept Generation

With my analytic thinking and my nag for problem solving I am already well suited for developing Ideas. I improved theses skills further throughout my studies in order to come from Ideas to worked out Concepts. In order to create a valid base for my Ideas & Concepts I use Research Methods and know how to apply them. 

evaluation & reflection

It is hard to capture every Idea that comes to mind while designing a product, that is why this section I just show worked out Concepts. My Ideas are on a high level whereas my the visualization of them can still be improved in order to make everyone understand my Ideas. I am good in problem solving when it comes to solutions for certain requirements and limitations. I don't narrow my ideas in what is possible or what my abilities are but rather would should be possible and where I can rely on help from others in form of professional teamwork. 

design skills

I learned a variety of Design Skills before and during my studies, I can work with Adobe CC on a good level whereas I prefer Illustrator and InDesign. In addition to that I started working with a drawing tablet using Autodesk Sketchbook. Solidworks is used for 3D modeling which I also master well. Using all these tools and programs, I am able to visualize my ideas, create 2D and 3D models as well as create Graphics Designs. 

evaluation & reflection

The level throughout my Design Skills is still fluctuating whereas I have a strong abilities of creating Graphic Design and 3D Modeling and still have to further improve my sketching skills. Before my studies I was just Sketching and drawing and never worked with digital graphics. I approached this new world without hesitation and quickly learned the bases in order to improve these skills. Because of the similarities within these programs I learn from every program for every program. 

Realization - prototyping

Because of my early interest in crafting and the teaching of my grandfather, I obtained a high level of realization in form of prototyping. I used, and further improved this competence during my studies where I built a variety of different prototypes and mock-up models. In here I am showing some of my works during the study to create a better picture of my abilities.  

evaluation & reflection

My skills in realization are clearly focused on woodworking and fabrics. During my study I combined these skills with certain research methods as well as design skills in order to create a product that fits certain requirements and a suited for its user. I like to build furniture and home accessories. I follow a straight line and my design identity  comes back in my products. Besides my study I also worked on products I built for myself which can be found under Sir Iron.
